GURGAON: A city-based technologist has successfully powered nearly three dozen villages in the states of Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh, using solar energy, in the last five years. 

Rajinder Kumar Kaura started the initiative in 2009 by powering a small hamlet Rampura, 20 kms from Jhansi in UP, after he was shortlisted by an NGO for the solar power project.  Replica Cartier Watches

The project was completed with financial aid from Norway and an Indian company. "It was a pilot project for us but when it succeeded in a village of around 50 households, then the government of Norway, on our special request, offered further help to replicate the experiment in another 35 villages," said Kaura, who did post-graduation in power systems from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim in 1980.
